Who are we?
The Virtual International Day of the Midwife is an annual free 24-hour online conference celebrating midwifery and birth-related matters. This year sees the 8th conference, starting at 22:00 on Wednesday 4th May, Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). Find out when that is in your time zone here bit.ly/VIDoM16-start-time
Our Programme is almost complete. Speakers from 14 different countries! Including Indonesia, Iran, Romania, Belgium, Palestine to name just a few.
After the success of last year, we are holding three student cafes, one for each time zone.
And new this year – Three workshops – Waterbirth, Neonatal Resuscitation, VBAC
Our Keynote Speakers are
- Professor Maralyn Foureur, University of Technology, Sydney, opening the conference with‘Designing Out Fear’
- Professor Ellen Blix, University of Applied Sciences, Oslo ‘Midwifery and Maternity Care in Norway’
- Professor Eugene Declercq, Boston University, ‘Birth by the Numbers; Evidence behind the Us Cesarean Epidemic’
- Professor Caroline Homer, University of Technology, Sydney, closing the conference with‘Reducing Preventable Stillbirths; The Opportunity for Midwives’
