Maternal sepsis remains one of the leading causes of maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity worldwide. Although often preventable and treatable, delays in recognition and management can have devastating consequences for mothers and their families.
This evening symposium brings together obstetricians, midwives, emergency physicians, anesthesiologists, intensivists, infectious disease specialists, microbiologists, and general practitioners to explore the challenges of preventing, recognizing, and managing maternal sepsis. Drawing on data from BAMM (Belgian Analysis System for Maternal Mortality), the program will highlight lessons learned from Belgian cases and discuss current evidence, multidisciplinary collaboration, clinical decision-making, and opportunities for improving maternal outcomes.
